Sarsen consultants continue to  play key roles in Citibank's initiative to unify all of their corporate banking services throughout the world under a common set of Internet applications. Sarsen's contributions to this global effort have included:

Requirements Analysis

Sarsen led the business requirements team for the reporting portion of a web-based application to support Citibank's Commercial Cards program. Sarsen produced the reporting application framework functional requirements, specified 50 on-line reports and co-developed the logical data model.

Global Reporting Architecture

Sarsen managed the development of global enterprise reporting system that allows corporate customers to retrieve real-time reports via the Internet in more than 120 countries and 22 languages. This effort required intensive around-the-clock coordination with more than 200 developers, business users, requirement writers and system testers throughout the world. In addition to these organizational and logistical challenges, Sarsen has resolved many technical challenges as well. An example is the need to dynamically render reports in the user's choice of 22 languages. Sarsen met this requirement using an innovative approach that required enhancements to the reporting vendor's product. Sarsen worked closely with the vendor to implement the solution. Sarsen plays a key role in resolving ongoing challenges of system usage and performance, data availability and integrity, data access rights, defect resolutions, requirement enhancements, vendor management, staffing and training.

Internet Platform Deployment

Managed the global deployment of the Internet infrastructure, including the coordination of project managers from the development, business line, data center, and network operations groups.  This involved integrating web, application, and database server farms across development, quality control, user acceptance, testing, and production regions while integrating internal and external feeds for transactional, security and reporting needs.

Instrumentation and Performance

Sarsen specified and developed a system to gather system usage statistics and created reports for use in managing system capacity. We defined service levels agreements (SLAs), performance monitoring metrics, alert conditions, and problem resolution scenarios. Sarsen helped to coordinate all of the support groups involved and specified the requirements needed to ensure rapid identification and resolution of application issues. Sarsen integrated COTS and custom applications to achieve this goal, including HP Openview (ITO), IBM Communications Server, Candle (CMS/CMW), Crystal Reports, Oracle and Java.
